9/4 Cache Run

As I work in Adelaide and we are going to Coobowie for the Easter long weekend, I decided to extend my long weeke end by having Thursday off and go caching, with the aim being to end up in Coobowie.

I headed up the Port Wakefield Road, then headed to Kadina where I had a very late lunch. It was disappointing to leave Kadina without having found the Pyramid caching series or the Education series. We will return one weekend to focus on those two series.

After lunch I headed off to Coobowie via Arthurton, Maitland and Ardrossan. I attempted about 8 or so caches, with all but one being a “DNF’”. By the time I arrived in Ardrossan it was about 4.30pm, so I decided to make a bee line to Point Julia where a new cache had been published.

I arrived at the location for the new cache only to find two motor homes parked nearby. What with all my recent “DNF’s”, I was not dissapointed to miss out on the “FTF” for this cache. Having logged this cache, it was onward to Coobowie.

Hooray at last – finally found another cache after a number of DNF’s on the way through from Kadina via Arthuirton, Maitland and Ardrossan. I was so overjoyed in actually finding the cache I wasn’t disappointed not to get the FTF. Silver so far from home was a bonus. Unlucky #13 for the day. The cache was exposed and anything of any value in the cache has been muggled. Couldn’t find the log book to record my find. I would recommend this cache be put off line until such time as maintenance has been done. Very clever maths! I think I would have liked you being my maths teacher when I was at school all those years ago. As a special treat there was a cache guard – a sleepy lizard, at first I thought it was cammo before it moved a little. I left sleepy in peace and quickly logged and replaced the cache. Discovered the two TB’s in the cache – decided to leave them for the next finder. This is my first visit to Dublin for probably 15 years. Having read the description I was looking for a 200ml sistema container, without much luck. Resorted to reading the clue, which initially didn’t offer much help. Spied something sort of masonry, but not quite, and found the cache. For future finders, the cache is now a 35mm film canister.
